Since our charter in (1920), our American Legion Post has been welcoming VETERANS from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving your God, Country and Community. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble below.

The Raymond Cleaves Mattituck American Legion Post 861
Regretfully Announces the passing of Legionnaire, Post Chaplain, and Post Trustee Arthur Tillman. This Post with a deep sadness will miss his wise council, service, commitment to all Veterans needs and issues.
Visiting hours will be Thursday May 9. 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Legion service will be held at 7:30 pm at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home on the Main Rd in Mattituck.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 10, 2019 at 10 am at the Advent Lutheran Church on Legion Ave in Mattituck. The services will be officiated by Reverend George Summers.
Interment will follow at the New Bethany Cemetery.

For God and Country, we associate ourselves together for the following purposes: To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order, to foster and perpetuate a one hundred per cent Americanism; to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in the Great Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and good will on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
 
 

Press Release - Mattituck American Legion post 861

 

On May 18th, 2019 Mattituck American Legion along with the North Fork Girl Scouts will be placing Flags on the graves of Veterans in local cemeteries in Mattituck and Cutchogue, honoring these veterans who have served our country.  It will start at 10 a.m. with a brief ceremony at the American Legion Hall 600 Wickham Avenue, Mattituck. If you have a Veteran family member or friend and would like a flag placed on the grave site contact Mattituck American Legion (631) 298 7825 or email Legion861@gmail.com. The public is invited and encouraged to join this event. A light lunch will be served at the Mattituck Legion Hall following the flag placements.
